Hildin Pomares was born in Havana, Cuba in 1944. She was raised in an art loving family and since early childhood was introduced to different art forms. Her mother studied art and although she never capitalized on her knowledge, she practiced several forms of art (painting, glass and ceramics) at home in Cuba. When leaving Cuba, Hildin brought with her a set of oil paints in order to be able to proceed with her love of art wherever life took her.

She studied in New York City, and although she did not study art formally there, she kept on painting. When she finished High School she left for Spain to study at the University of Madrid (Complutense) where she studied Philosophy. In Madrid she was supervised by a copyist at the Prado Museum as she started working with watercolors and pastels. She moved to Murcia in Spain where she kept on painting in several mediums and had several exhibits.

Hildin came to Miami in 1987 and studied in the Miami Art Club under Felix Ramos and Felix de Cossio, very well known and renowned Cuban artists. She has had several exhibits here.
